Meridianus Divinitus is my MFA thesis work. It is an exploration and reinterpretation of the body energetic. According to Eastern philosophies, energy ebbs and flows from the body through energy foci. The primary foci are known as chakras. There are seven chakra points: Crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, bowels, and groin. In addition to these major power centers, there are hundreds of minor foci known as meridians which create the spider web of energy which spreads the life force throughout the body. I have take ancient charts of these points and their connectivities and created a dynamic simulation of how these energies are supposed to flow. From that simulation, I am creating five separate reinterpretations to represent the five ancient states of being. |
