Deconstruction and transformation are the underlying themes which permeate most of my work. After years of training in the area of visual effects, I decided that instead of working in industry, I wanted to use the medium of 3d software to create abstract art for both video installation and for printing. However, the works created so far are not random abstract creations. Objects are taken from real world, recreated in 3d software, and these virtual copies are used as the foundation for the final piece.
I am now in the early stages of a new and currently untitled project. With this project, I plan to convert decorative knot work and spiral patterns from Celtic and paleolithic European culture into, new contemporary forms following a similar creative philosophy as Tesseraction and Meridianus Divinitus. My first prototype from this project, Hammer, is a waveform conversion of a stylized Celtic knot work hammer. The next stage will be to transform the etchings from the Stone of Turoe into new forms. These reconstructions will be rendered both to video for site specific installation and at high resolution for large format prints. |
